Hi and thanks for asking us on HCM.

Many patients infected with typhoid may suffer from mild to moderate anemia. When your hemoglobin (blood) level is down to 8grams/dl, you will certainly feel very weak and dizzy.

However, this is a temporary situation in typhoid infection. As long as there is no bleeding in your intestines, your blood levels should build up in a week or two as you recover from the infection.

Ideally, you need to go on a typhoid diet. This diet has small, frequent meals and is high in protein and calories. Your diet needs to be bland, easily digested and not rich in fiber, as right now, fiber will irritate your intestines. Do not start taking meat yet as meat is high in fat and will not be digestible by your sensitive intestines at this point in time. Fruit juices, broth, salty juices, eggs and dairy are suitable to help you build up your health.

You will also need sufficient rest. Your body needs time to replenish its blood.

Hope this helps. Do get well soon
