I have had gerd for many years. Been not well for 6+ weeks. Stomach pain, reflux, light headed, nauseous, back pain. Went to doctors and told I have arrhithma. Tested for gallbladder - negative. Can I have an ulcer and if so does this cause the arrhithma?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history of suffering from GERD for many years, not well for more than 6 weeks, stomach pains, reflux, light headed, nausea and back pain; Doctors told about arrhythmia, gall bladder normal, wants to know whether there is a possibility of having an ulcer and that causing arrhythmia... Well, it is not known that ulcer can really cause arrhythmia. Arrhythmia is a heart condition and has a problem in the heart itself, needs careful hear examination and investigations to know the cause and have proper treatment. To know whether there is an ulcer one needs to undergo an upper GI Endoscopy. If present needs biopsy and proper plan of treatment and requirement to have regular endoscopy to see whether there is a healing or not. You need the following: Cardiac checkup and treatment as per the Cardiologist's treatment. Upper GI Endoscopy. PPI like Omeprazole, Antacid three hourly Domperidone if requirement. Soft bland diet No stress and anxiety as these are instigating or enhancing factors.
