How To Treat Sprained Ankle Leading To Bruise?

I sprained my ankle on Wednesday and it is now Sunday. My bruising is getting worse, which i anticipated because it will get worse before it gets better. Today i noticed a very thin, straight line bruise. Could this indicate a more serious problem? I have been resting a lot since the injury. The ER doc said nothing was broken, but could he have missed a hairline fracture? Are my ligaments damaged? Thank you in advance.

HI
Well come to HCM
I really appreciate your concern, if this is the sprain and no fracture is there then it must be soft tissue inflammation and not the torn ligament but chances of formation of hematoma would be very likely, this is nothing to worry because with the right treatment it would be fine soon, hope this information helps, take care and have a nice day.
