How To Treat Sore Throat With Sac Of Pus On Uvula?
I have had a minor sore throat for a day now. I noticed just a few minutes ago that i now have what looks like a sack of puss on my uvula, and the surrounding area in my throat is irritated. I thought this maybe to be strep throat but after doing some reading I see strep is not commonly associated with congestion. I am a little congested and have been for the past couple days. Any ideas doc? Is this something to be concerned about? Maybe just a viral infection?
Understanding your concern. As per your query you have sore throat with sac of pus on uvula is due to pharyngitis along with uvulitis which are leading to abscess formation on uvula and it seems to be due to more of bacterial infection. I Would suggest you You can take Amoxicillin 250 mg thrice a day. In case if you don't want to take it you can do warm saline gargles 3 times a day. Chew one Vitamin C pellet daily. Use a humidifier in your room. Take steam inhalation daily. If there is pain in throat to can take Tylenol. Avoid spicy and cold foods. Visit ENT specialist once and get it examined. Start treatment after proper diagnosis.
