How To Treat Sharp To Mild Pain In My Stomach Due To Acids?

For two days I have had sharp to mild pain in my stomach, excessive stomach acid to the point of gagging and retching and difficulty sleeping. I took prevacid about an hour ago and drank some mint tea. I am wondering what else I can do, and also what I should try to eat.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

According to your complain, you have a problem of pain in the stomach that may be because of gastritis or gastric ulcer or other condition. Before diagnosing anything proper investigation is must.

Proton pump inhibitor drugs are helpful in gastritis condition. Ultrasonography can be done for further diagnosis.
• Avoid spicy foods and oily foods.
• Drink more water.
• Avoid tea, coffee, alcohol, and acidic food
• Avoid immediate lying down after the meal.
• Eat small meals and chew properly.

After taking this much care still, symptoms are present than consult a gastroenterologist for further diagnosis.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rachana Goswami
