How To Treat Sharp Jaw Pain Radiating To Ear After Wisdom Tooth Removal?

I broke my wisdom tooth while eating on ice...which I always do. But now I have a sharp pain from my jaw going towards my right ear and the left side of my face is numb and tingling. I tried the temporary filler and I also tried putting an aspirin on the tooth. What else could I do? Our town does not have an emergency dentist.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that pain in your jaw radiating to the ear along with numbness and tingling after your wisdom tooth broke while eating ice seems to be probably due to nerve exposure that has occurred due to breakage of the tooth and when the nerves gets exposed that are present in the centre of the tooth, there is severe pain due to nerve irritation and it seems to be a cause in your case..

In such a severe case you need to get the tooth treated as medication to relive pain will give you only temporary relief..

Consult a dentist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and x ray has to be done..
The tooth has to be treated with root canal treatment or extraction depending upon condition of the tooth..

As of now take higher painkiller like Tramadol or Ketorolac to relieve pain..
Do cool compresses over cheek.
Do warm saline gargles..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
