How To Treat Severe Throat Soreness?

Hi. I have had a horrible sore throat that makes it difficult for me to speak as a result of the pain. I have a severe migraine, congestion, a runny nose, and I feel as if I am burning on the inside of my body, but I feel cool on the outside. Can you tell me what this might be?

Cardiologist 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms are suggestive of an upper airway infection. I recommend consulting with your attending physician for a physical exam and some tests: complete blood count, ESR, PCR and a throat discharge bacterial culture. Taking antibiotics may be necessary. In the meantime, I recommend taking ibuprofen for the pain and nasal decongestant drops.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
