How To Treat Severe Swelling Of Lip Caused Due To A Injury?

My husband fell over handlebars on bike. Hit ground with force. Has 6 stitches between nose and lip. Has broken nose and gash on forhead. His lip is extremely swollen is there anything that can take swelling down. Gets stitches out on friday. But very stretchedand sore. On pain relief and antibotics. Ice helps but hasnt went down any..

I would recommend he take Ibuprofen 800mg every 8 hours if he has no history of problems taking it in the past and if he has no stomach issues. Also getting on a oral steroid would help with the edema. Ice on and off for 20 minutes would help with the swelling as well.
