How To Treat Recurrent Contact Dermatitis On Ankle Caused After Injury?

I m at my wits end. I had an ankle fracture almost 5 years ago. As a result I had fracture blisters, which healed but I get recurring blisters (chronic). I have been to dematoligist several times he says its contact dermatitis. I have tried steroid creams, antibiotic creams, otc products and home remidies. No relief.... Can t afford to keep going to Dr ( insurance will not cover anything but wellness visits. I can t wear socks, I have to wear backless shoes. The blisters cover entire inside of right foot. I can t afford to pay for advice but would greatly appreciate any help. YYYY@YYYY

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern . As per your query you have recurrent contact dermatitis on ankle caused after injury . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like allergic reaction , psoriasis , skin infection , sun allergy or fungal infection . I would suggest you to keep your skin clean and dry , protect it from sun , apply only petroleum jelly and take anti histamine like benadry twice a day . If condition doesn't get well then consult dermatologist for proper examination .Doctor may order certain test like skin patch test , blood test , allergy test and take history to rule out the side effects of certain drug . Doctor may prescribe immunosuppressnats along with anti inflammatory and corticosteroid ointment . Doctor may also prescribe anti fungal like fluconazole or anti bacterial like clindamycin . Also clean your skin with betadine and prevent it from dust .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.
Best Wishes,
