How To Treat Post-surgery Pins & Needles Sensation In The Foot?

5 weeks ago I had surgery to repair a torn tendon (perenous longus) in ankle & the doc also flattened my foot due to high arches. I have been non weight bearing. The bottom of my foot is still numb & feels like pins & needles & the top is still really tight & sore. Is massaging both areas ok? Do you have other recommendations?
