How To Treat Pain On Scalp Towards Right Side?

I had a severe headache on right side of head a month and a half ago. Scalp on top right side very tender. I had eye pain and ear pain on right side. Prednisone helped the eye and ear pain but not scalp pain. MRI negative, so was CT scan with contrast. Blood tests negative. Doctor gave me migraine medicine but am not having migraines. I just want the scalp pain to go away. I do have a mole behind my right ear. Could that be the cause? Had an eye exam, it was fine.

Hello dear,
I understand your concern.Severe unilateral headache along with retro-orbital(behind the eye) pain along with MRI and CT negativity, the most common cause is ,migraine.Scalp tenderness is common in migraine. Other closest differential is a 'Tension type headache' although being unilateral is slightly less common with it.Mole behind the ear can't be the cause of it.I think you should continue with the anti-migraine medicines. In addition,I would like you to start 'amitriptyline'if you are already not taking it.(Please take medicines under the supervision of your physician only).I hope it helps.
