How To Treat Pain Caused In Foot Due To Corns?

I am requesting for product recommendations for my mother who has corns on foot and she says they are painful - She usually uses footwear which are soft and has cushion to relieve - Any special accessories or special footwear that will help her ? She is in India and I will buy them in US and have to send.Though I see lot of things online I am skeptical whether they will really help and as its not possible to try and find out - i want to increase the chances of finding something relieving for her - In your experience did patients with similar problems find any thing particularly useful

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM team.

Understanding your concern.
Corns usually occurs in area with excessive pressure and friction on foot .It is basically thickened dead skin which can range from discomfort to painful situation.

There is a product which very effective in treating and further preventing occurrence of corns is known as 'moleskin pad'.It is easily available in market produce by some good brands like Dr scholls. Moleskin pads are very effective in releasing stressful area and allow them to heal.

I would also suggest you to ask her to apply some keratilytic agent on affected area like salicylic acid which will dissolve keratin protein in corns and relieve then .She should also give her feet a warm water bath for ten mins daily.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
get well soon.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
