Hi...my 5 yr old daughter was born with hypothyroidism. She predominantly stays hypo & her levels we're abnormal & really elevated during her last bloodwork about 2 weeks ago. She's also had cold extremities, dry cough & emotional. Her endocrinologist has not gotten back to me concerning dosage of her current dose of 37.5 mcg levoxyl. Any suggestions so she's not getting worse? Coughing has been persistent & getting worse...no other sick symptoms just cough. Thanks
Hello, Good day. Cough is not a specific symptom of hypothyroidism. In fact it is best to avoid doing thyroid blood works when anyone is sick. How is her memory and school performance? Dies she have constipation? If these are normal, not to worry too much. To prescribe a dose, we need to know her weight and the TSH level. Regards Binu
