How To Treat Intense Chest Pain While Suffering From AFib?

I had my heart shocked on Thursday and Friday, Saturday, and today I have a lot of chest pain. I am in afib again with feeling like someone is standing on my chest. After I eat 3 bites my chest is in a lot of pain also. I have had 3 ablations in the past and nothing seems to help the afib. What now is in store for me?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you have history of ablation and atrial fibrillation, and now are experiencing chest pain, you are suggested to get clinically examined in the ER, you may need medical support. You should get repeat blood tests (lipid function test, blood glucose - R/PP) & imaging tests (Echo, EKG, X-ray, etc) done. Holter monitor test done if required.

Your treatment (by medicine , therapy or surgery) will depend on your clinical condition and reports of the investigations obtained. You may need medicines to control your blood cholesterol & triglyceride level, blood glucose level, clot preventing medicines, medicines for chest pain, etc. Since you are having chest pain, it is not the time to sit at home. Get examined by a cardiologist, get treated at the earliest. Neglect will result in the worsening of the symptoms.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
