How To Treat Insect Bite?

My husband has been working outside and felt a sting on his hand. There appeared to be two puncture wounds. Later on he felt (his words) disconnected and spaced out. The bite is swollen and he has now come out in a large number of welts all over his body which are extremely itchy. It is on both sides of his body and his hands and feet are very very itchy. Can you advise what action we should be taking.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that he has been bitten by some poisonous insect leading to allergic reaction as the toxic chemical injected by the insect/bug can lead to severe allergic reaction and the itching and bumps can be due to it..
Other cause can be Mite Infestation causing Scabies..
I would suggest you to consult an Allergist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
In case of allergic reaction you can be advised to take anti allergics like Allegra or Levocetrizine..
You can also be advised to apply Calamine lotion..
Do cool compresses to relieve itching and soothe the skin..
Apply steroid ointment over the bite site..
You can also be given injectable steroids to relieve itching followed by oral anti allergics..
In case of Scabies, you can be advised to apply Prethermin lotion over the skin..
Taking oral Ivermectin can be advised..
Take anti allergic to relieve itching..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
