How To Treat Head Injury Mediated Headache, dizzy And Head Pressure?

Hi, I m 15 and I hit the back of the right side of my head on a corner of a wall. I do have a headache and I feel abit of pressure on my head. I also feel a little dizzy. Should I be worried? When do I need to get it checked? What symtoms do I need to get it checked out?

Hi. Sorry to hear about your head. Let me see if i can give you some information that will help you decide what you need to do.

First things first. I do hope you've told your folks about the injury. Head injuries are fickle and can make you forget things. So having someone else that is aware of the injury can help if you need to go to the doctor.

Headaches, blurry vision and dizziness are pretty common in a head injury. They are caused by some minor swelling of the Brain and its coverings (the Meninges). This kind of injury is called a concussion and you don't have to worry too much about those. The pain and dizziness should subside in a day or so. If it doesn't.. get to a doctor and get some x-rays to look for a fracture.

Also if you notice any worsening pain, if you develop nausea or if you excessively sleepy during the day... then you need to get to the doctor ASAP.

All in All. I would wait it out until the pain goes away on it's own. If your folks have a bottle of tylenol lying around you might ask them to give you one of those. If the pain gets worse or you develop new symptoms, get to a doctor right away. I the pain stays the same for days and days and doesn't seem to be going away.. Time to go to the doc.. Sound OK?

I hope this helps. Please feel free to contact me through Healthcaremagic if you need anything else. Stay safe.
