How To Treat Gastritis Leading To Chest Pain Inspite Of Taking Prilosec?
My daughter has been having pain right below her rib cage in the middle of her stomach. Her pain was so severe on Sunday I had to take her to the ER. They did some xrays and said they came back normal. They did not do any blood work. He diagnosed her with gastronitis and she has been taking a prilosec but hasnt seemed to help. The pain is still so bad it hurts for her to stand up straight and the pain gets so bad that it makes her cry. I dont think the cause is gastronitis. Any idea what could be causing this. Her pain started about a 2 weeks ago and has only gotten worse.
The first thing that she needs to do is to have the prilosec increased to 40 mg twice daily and syrup carafate should also be added to it. If the symptoms still do not resolve she should be seen by a gastroenterologist to consider other possible diagnosis. If she has not had an ultrasound of her abdomen I would recommend she have one done and if she has had an ultrasound, it could have missed something then I would recommend that she should have a CT scan of her abdomen.
