I'm a 74 year old male having experienced irritable , crampy stomach, stomach pain because of bloating an d gas, frequent belching which somewhat relieves the discomfort. Saw doctor on 8-12-14 , 8-19, 8-26. Was given prevacid 15mg. Had abdominal ultrasound(unremarkable), upper GI including 3 biopsies, all normal, gall bladder function test with dye, again normal. Since 8-12-14, have taken following meds with not much relief: aciphex, sucralfate, omeprazole, pantoprazole, and imipramine, but of course not all at once.Still have gas buildup in stomach as soon as I eat almost anything, and it's been very uncomfortable the last week. I've been told I have excess stomach acid and the meds are an attempt to reduce the acid. Gas builds up much that I have real stomach (rib cage etc. ) pain which is usually relieved by taking two common alka seltzer tablets with a glass of water. This allows me to belch and relieve the gas pressure. Lying down is worse and find myself up at night walking and bending etc. to relieve the pressure. Am going to the family doctor again tomorrow morning to see whatelse might be recommended. I'm clutching at straws to find a solution to the problem. Maybe you folks have some ideas. My dad had surgery at Rochester years ago, (esophagal cancer that was successfully treated). Seems that acid reflux problems of one kind or another run in my family. Anyway, long story. Hoping to find out more from my doctor, and hope you at Mayo have some ideas. I'm real healthy otherwise and this is getting old to say the least. Thanks. Monte Johnson
