General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Normally, a viral tummy bug (gastroenteritis) cause diarrhea that resolves within 7 days, and vomiting doesn't usually go beyond 4 days. You can treat the tummy pain with paracetamol as required. The most important thing is to drink plenty of water and make sure the child is producing urine every 12 hours (wet nappies). If the child looks too weak to walk, not keeping anything for the whole day or fast breathing, then you need to go back to the ER (A and E) as this may mean severe dehydration.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
