How To Treat Frequent Cold And Cough In A Child?

Hi my son is 2.10 years old and catches cold very frequently ....from yesterday morning he is having running nose and cough...could n't sleep entire night yesterday because of nose block and was not able to breath properly...what should I do, as I dont want to put him on antibiotics etc..

Hello. Thank you for your question. I'm sorry your son is not well. Multiple upper respiratory infections are very common in the pediatric age range. I agree that we want to avoid antibiotivs whenever we can. Unfortunately, over the counter cold and cough medications are mot recommended foe this age group. I recommend a cool mist vaporizer, saline nose drops, head elevation while sleeping, and plenty of fluids until the infection resolves.
