How To Treat Food Allergy?

I get attacks once every month,Cannot digest certain foods especially those that have skin, such as peppers, olives, mushroom, actually any food. Only thing I can eat is mashed potato and bread. I get nauseated, force myself to vomit and see that I have not digested whatever it was, that is when the attack starts and lasts for more than a week. I eat crackers, mashed potatoes until the attack is finished. When I vomit there is also phlegm. Sometimes the attack lasts for a month, I drink liquids. I am diabetic and take pills.

Hi,

The best way to treat a food allergy is to avoid the foods that trigger the allergic reaction. It is important to identify which foods are causing your symptoms and eliminate them from your diet.

You can work with a healthcare provider or a registered dietitian to help identify trigger foods and develop a meal plan that meets your nutritional needs while avoiding allergens. They may also recommend supplements or fortified foods to help ensure that you are getting all the necessary nutrients.

In addition to avoiding trigger foods, it may be helpful to carry an epinephrine auto-injector (such as an EpiPen) in case of a severe allergic reaction. You should also wear a medical alert bracelet or necklace that identifies your food allergy.

If you are experiencing symptoms of an allergic reaction, such as nausea, vomiting, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention right away. A healthcare professional can provide appropriate treatment, which may include medications such as antihistamines, corticosteroids, or epinephrine.

It is also important to manage any underlying health conditions, such as diabetes, as well as to maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle to support overall health and well-being.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Hi,

It sounds like you may be experiencing symptoms of a food allergy or food intolerance. See an allergist for accurate treatment post diagnosis. In the meantime, you can try keeping a food diary to help identify which foods trigger your symptoms. Avoiding these foods can help prevent future attacks. You may also want to try an elimination diet, where you eliminate certain foods from your diet for some time and gradually reintroduce them to see if they trigger symptoms.

Over-the-counter antihistamines or corticosteroids may help relieve mild allergy symptoms, but it is important to talk to your doctor before taking any medication, especially if you have diabetes. If your symptoms are severe or you have difficulty breathing, seek immediate medical attention. Anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that can be life-threatening and requires emergency treatment.
