How To Treat Extreme Nausea During Pregnancy?

I am 6 weeks pregnant with baby #2 and am extremely nauseated and almost unable to eat much and sleep but before I was pregnant I had a medical prescription for medical marijuana but have stopped and I am only getting worse what do I do? I have heard that some obgyns and midwives actually recommend the use of medical marijuana to the patients

I read your question and i understand your concern.

The way you prescribe your condition, it is called morning sickness (even though it can happen at any time of the day). Since it is your second baby, I think that you probably are familiar with this situation.

However you don't have to be concerned. Usually this condition is not harmful to you or your baby. It usually stops around 12th week of pregnancy (but it can last longer). But you should consult your health-care provider in severe nausea and/or vomiting if you feel so sick that you miss meals days after days.

To be able to alleviate this condition, you have to do some changes in your lifestyle. Eat small meals often (every 2-3 ours). Do not lie down after eating. Sometimes sniffing lemons can help. Avoid cooking or eating spicy, fatty or fried food because of the smell. To alleviate your symptoms you might take salty chips, brown rice, apple slices, watermelon, crackers, sparkling water, noodles. Drink small amounts of fluid often during the day (avoid during or immediately after the meal). You can also try ginger.

If the above steps doesn't help you, your doctor can prescribe medication to reduce your symptoms (like pyridoxine and doxylamine).

Regarding the use of medical marijuana, I advice you not to use it.

I wish you a good health
