How To Treat Edema In The Fingers And Itchy Skin On The Thumb?

My 20year old, very healthy, very fit son has swelling in the third fingers of both hands, with itching, and itching at base of thumb on one hand. No fever, or hives, and only the area below the second joint and above the third joint is swollen. Only the third fingers are swollen, and it’s both visible and uncomfortable. No joint pain or change in mobility. Really weird.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Yeah, it is weird to hear having swelling on third finger only without any pain. Apply Halobet ointment 2 times per day for 10 days and Cetaphil moisturizing lotion 2 to 3 times per day.

If swelling does not subside or worsen, please visit your physician.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priya Mohod Shirsat
