Acute phase of diverticulitis needs intensive care with hospital admission. Following measures help great way:
- Nil by mouth
- Intravenous fluids
- Maintenance of serum electrolytes
- Intravenous antibiotics

Maintenance phase of diverticulitis include high fiber diet, bulk forming agents as bran or psyllium.
