How To Treat Discolouration And Numbness Of Finger Caused Due To An Injury?

I sustained an injury to my middle finger trying to free a lock that was bent on a medical door. My middle finger hurt . I put ice on it. As the days went on there was intermittent discoloring and numbness. I suspected nerve damage. At present the middle finger remains substantially bluish eccymotic and somewhat numb. Should I seek someone who does EMG to assess nerve damage. Gladys

Good day. If you hurt the finger, then surely you may have crushed a nerve. If the finger is feeling more and more numb each day, it may just be confirming the fact that there is a nerve injury. However, it could be that you put ice there too often, or it might also be a blood vessel injury. I think you need to take to a doctor to check. It may just need a balm and regular massage. Get it checked out before the damage is irreversible please. I wish you a nice day.
