How To Treat Dark Discoloration On The Right Thigh After An Injury?

So i hit my right thigh really hard falling down while roller blading and after 12 hours the swelling stopped but now the area is partly black and partly red, it doesnt hurt that much unless u apply lots of pressure. was wondering if i need to check it out or something

Hi. It sounds as though you have sustained a haematoma or bruising to the thigh compartment musculature. Given that the swelling and pain were quite short-lived, I would be reassured that the likelihood of significant injury is low. If the pain persists or if the swelling gets worse, then I would suggest you get checked out in your Emergency Department, but if things continue to improve, even slowly, then I would advise that the discolouration will get better in due course. It may even take over a week or two for the colour to return to normal. It may also turn many different colours as the haematoma changes and breaks down, including black, blue, purple, brown, yellow.
