How To Treat Damage Caused To The Ear Drum While Having Sinusitis?

I was told by my primary doctor that my left eardrum is collapsing. I have been suffering from a sinus infection and cough for almost 3 months. I am now taking another anti-biotic and nasal spray. Should I be concerned or will my eardrum most likely repair by itself?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

As per your complain ear infection or other causes can cause damage to eardrum leading to perforation of eardrum..

The healing depends upon the severity of damage..

In case if the perforation is small then taking a course of antibiotics, decongestant nasal spray and antibiotic ear drops can help..

In case if perforation is large enough then surgical repair via Tympanoplasty procedure has to be done..

So first of all consult an ENT Physician and get evaluated and an Otoscopy has to be done..

Further treatment will be advised accordingly..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
