How To Treat Cyst In Left Kidney Causing Pain In Abdomen?

What can be causing left upper quadrant abdominal pain ? All tests including, abdominal ct scan, hida scan, 2 abdominal ultrasounds, upper endoscopy, and blood tests all came back normal. The only thing that showed up was a simple 1.7 cm cyst on my left kidney. The doctor has prescribed 3 different medications to treat ibs but nothing makes the pain better. I also don t experience diarrhea or constipation which I have heard is common with ibs. Food has no relation to the pain and can come and go at any time.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Pain in the upper left quadrant could be due to some disorder of spleen, ribs, pleural, splenic flexure of colon or musculoskeletal system.
A x-ray of the chest is required to look for the status of bony skeleton.
Pain in upper left side abdomen could be due to pleural pain.
Pleural pain could be due to inflammation or infection of the pleura.
Clinical assessment can determine whether the pain is arising from pleura or some other organ.
Spleen becomes painful in case of infarction, occlusion of the vein, splenomegaly etc.
An ultrasound abdomen can determine any organomegaly.
The symptoms that you have mentioned do not suggest inflammatory bowel disease, so the possibility of IBS is low.
A renal cyst, 1.2 cm in size is unlikely to cause abdominal pain, however, it needs to be followed up.
Thus, I suggest you to consult a pulmonologist to first assess the respiratory system followed by examination of gastrointestinal system to determine the cause of symptoms and thus management.

Thanks and take care
