How To Treat Chronic Migraine?

Hello Doctor My daughter is 20 yrs old and has chronic migraine , she has had check ups done but there seems to be no problem as per the doctors diagnosis. She is studying in South Africa and we are based in Uganda . She has been taking vasograin tablets regularly but does not want to continue because of the side effects . My uncle who is a doctor has recommended suminet 50 mg . Your advice..

I can understand your concern.
Migraine is symptomatic diagnosis. All reports will come normal only.
For proper symptomatic relief in migraine, patient should follow these lifestyle modifications along with drugs.
So tell your daughter toh follow these.
1. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
2. Avoid excessive sun exposure.
3. Drink plenty of fluids orally and keep your self hydrated.
4. Avoid fasting, take your meals timely.
5. Take sound sleep of 6-8 hours.
For prophylaxis of migraine, combination of propranolol and flunarizine is recommended.
If still patient feels headache then sumatriptan is needed.
Don't worry, your daughter will improve with all these.
