How To Treat Chronic Cough And Fever Inspite Of Giving Augpen In Children?

Hi, I have 3 years old daughter and she has coughing like anything but she was unable to remove the cough and which caused fever. I consult with our doctor and gave augupen ds but still I could see the fever is there. Any suggestion will really helpful, it s been only two days that she has taken the augupen ds medicin

Hi,

Thanks for your question.

After going through your question, I can understand your concern.

You should wait 1 more day to see effect of augpen.

Usually we prescribed augpen for at least 5 days depending upon infection.
Along with it use of decongestant and paracetamol and nebulization is advisable.

Despite of 5 days of treatment if there is no improvement then there is a need for evaluation. In that case following investigations may be advisable -
- Complete Blood Count.
- CRP, ESR.
- Chest X-ray.

Depending upon clinical evaluation and above test results further evaluation and treatment can be planned.
