Hypothyroidism causes
constipation as an adverse event associated with slow motility of the gut. More the time of stay of food in the intestines, more will be the absorption of water from stools and leading to dried up stools.
Management:-
*Take plenty of clean drinking water and keep a good physical activity to help move the intestines and aid in stool passing.
*Take Citrucel
dietary fiber with plenty of water or whole milk.
*Castor Oil is good for stool formation and to avoid constipation. Take it before breakfast.
*Before going to bed take Syrup
Lactulose. It will form proper bulk of stools.
*If there is impacted feces, use Glycerine adult suppositories.
