Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query choked throat which are pointing towards a condition known as granular pharyngitis/ sinusitis. The symptoms can also occur due to lymphnode swelling due to infection or allergy , acid reflux , lack saliva or stress and anxiety.

I would suggest you to start with warm saline gargles and betadine gargles 3-4 times a day. For pain and swelling you should take ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and rule out condition like strep throat and viral infection . The symptoms can also occur due to side effects of certain medicine .

Doctor may prescribe antibiotics (penicillin or amoxicillin ) or anti viral drug depending upon the diagnosis along with decongestants and anti inflammatory . Avoid hot, sharp , spicy food substances , do warm saline rinses and carbonated beverages. Suck on sugar free candy to increase saliva production.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
Dr. Harry Maheshwari
