How To Treat Abdominal Cramps, Foul Smelling And Abnormally Colored Loose Bowels?

Hi Dr. I am having lower abd cramps and diarrhea started last night but only pink output came out. The third trip to the toilet brought gases and brownish and pink diarrhea. The last one has smelt very foul and it was brownish. I have taken pepto bismol syrup three times this evening. Yet I m starting to feel nauseous and feverish. What should I do please?

Hi welcome to HCM. I reviewed your question. Well it seems a bug bothering you. For now i would advise you to keep well hydrated with fluids preferably ORS. For fever take acetaminophen tablets. Its generally not advisable to take imodium as its better to flush out the toxins from gut.
Hopefully it will be better in a day or two. If very smelly it could be amoebic dysentery provided you noticed a bit of blood streaks. In that case flagyl (metronidazole) is recommended.
I wish you good health.
