How To Treat A Horsefly Bite On The Arm?

can i take anything to treat a horsefly bite i am 32 weeks pregnant? i was bitten on weds afternoon on my arm the area has swollen up and is red about 4cm in diameter around the site of the bite. the area is very itchy and hot and sore to touch and feels like quite a hard lump under the skin and has also started to form tiny blisters on the surface of the skin. i am 31 yrs old 5ft 5 but am allergic to penicillin and asprin

I am sorry to hear about your recent encounter with a horse fly. Their bites are especially painful. The reaction you are having is a result of an allergic response. In this case since you are pregnant we maybe limited on your approach to treatment. My initial recommendation is to use ice and topical steroid cream like hydrocortisone. You could also add diphenhydramine and certirizine to reduce the itching. These measures should help reduce the swelling and itching and not affect your pregnancy.
