How To Treat A Bone Spur On The Heel And Neck Pain While Treating High BP?

hydrochlorothiazide 12.5 Perscribed following vertigo ER visit. No recurrence. Continuing BP is seen as dire concern to Medical. My complaints are for multiple ache/pain over body particularly neck tightness and confirmed bone spur on heel and foot soft tissue. I m more concerned about difficulty walking and over all aches than BP. I can t help but think that more BP RX will make worse overall condition. Xray shows neck problem but doctor concern is BP. Upcoming MRI for neck. Walking is painful at times. Neck continuing that makes life difficult. I m against unnecessary RX .. would rather locate source of problem. Prior activities hiking, gardening, sewing, reading 74 female Going to doctor make BP rise. Three hour visit to Excellent Dentist 143/86..... I like my dentist... BP is very high with other than dentist. I don t like to think I could be dead or helpless all the time. All suggestions welcome. MJ

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, yes your other illnesses must be interfering with your daily routine so should be prioritized first and treatment with OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen as well as gabapentin etc.

However, controlling BP is also important as it can lead to side effects and complications later on.

I wouldn't suggest continuing hydrochlorothiazide as it can raise uric acid and cause further skeletal issues as you are already facing those. Amlodipine or enalapril are safer alternatives in your case.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care
