How To Toilet Train A Child?

Hi, I have a 4 !/2 year old who wont poop on the potty. She says she s scared of her poop. She pees just fine in the potty so I don t know why she s scared. She holds her poop until night time and then poops in her pull up. when I can tell that she needs to poop and put her on the potty she freaks out (crying, shaking, almost making herself sick) and when she does poop because she can t help it, she can t get away from the potty fast enough like its going to attack her. I ve told her doctor all this and she says some kids just take longer. I worried because of how she freaks out (to the extreme) about it.

Psychiatrist 's  Response
hi sir/madam,
welcome to health care magic,

I can certainly understand your concern towards your child"s behaviour, it seems that she is suffering from specific phobia towards her poop, there is a possibility that this may happen due to some anxiety problem she may be suffering with. Being a psychiatrist , I would like to know about family dynamics, your child's birth history etc, as this may have some impact on her behaviour. please get back to me with all these details

The main therapy in child psychiatry is behaviour therapy, you need to give exposure therapy for the child, means make her to poop on the potty , in gradual manner, step by step by explaining her slowly, some antianxiety drugs can be used along with this. consult your doctor for further guidance

post your further questions if any, i will be available to answer them
Thank you
