How To Test For Mild Loss Of Hearing After Listening To A Loud Noise?

Someone spoke loudly directly in my ear. This was unintentional of course. However, my ear sort of closed and when I talk it sounds funny. Should I suspect damage? I don t believe my hearing is affected as I already had some lose of hearing in the ear.

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern.

Thanks for your query . Noise induce hearing loss occur due to acoustic trauma to ear drum severity of which depends upon loudness of voice . It may be temporary or permanent . Temporary hearing loss may persist for few hours to one day . If it persist beyond few days it could be sign permanent hearing loss in this case one should consult ENT specialist (ear , nose, throat).

Temporary hearing loss is called temporary threshold shift . which can be treated with steroid therapy. The symptoms you mention in query may occur due to mild damage to ear .

So i would suggest you consult ENT specialist or otolyrngologist for proper diagnoses . Doctor may prescribe steroid medicine or multivitamin supplement for quick healing .

For now you can start taking ginkgo biloba supplement .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
