How To Take Norethisterone For An Early Period?

Hi, I had my period on 10th May which lasted for 4-5days. And I am suppose to go on a trip next month on 16th June which means if it comes on 10th June I may not end my period on time. Is it ok for me to start taking norethisterone now for 5days then stop to advance my period? Am I in time or is it too late alr?

Hi & Welcome to HCM.
I can understand your concern.

In a situation like yours, I would suggest you to start Norethisterone Tab twice daily without waiting for coming period to avoid mess up.
It is the best thing you can do to avoid your upcoming period. Your period will resume within 7 to 10 days after stopping them. Don't be worried.
Postponement of period is more safe as compared to preponement.

If you wish to prepone the period you can't predict withdrawal bleeding within the expected time. It may be delayed or occurs earlier which can mess your planning or trip and it may make the next cycles irregular.

To postpone your period you need to take one tablet of Norethisterone (5 mg) 2 times a day, beginning 3 days before you expect your period to start (June 10th). You should take the tablets at the same time every day, one in the morning & in the evening. Continue it till the completion of your trip (max 2 weeks). Then stop the medicine. Withdrawal bleeding will occur within 3-7 days. This is a prescription based medication so you need to take it from your local doctor.
Hope this works.
