Hello and welcome to HCM, Scarring on the skin depends on the depth of lesion and the healing process. Very superficial injuries or scratches heal without leaving any mark. Deep injuries leave behind scar marks which do not disappear and permanenet marks remain. Burn injury leads to burning of the deep dermis. Healing of the dermis and epidermis takes place by regeneration of the dermis and epidermis. The new tissue formed is hypertrophic and may be hyperpigmented. The scarring and hyperpigmentation becomes light with time. However, the scar may not disappear permanently. Cosmetic measures may be required for disappearance of the scar. You need to consult your dermatologist for clinical examination of the scar and most appropriate management.
