Hi! You can make dietary changes to lose weight such as reduce your intake of fat by avoiding fried stuffs, junk food and rich gravies, desserts with alot of fat, fat-rich salad dressings like mayonnaise etc.
Increase your intake of fibre rich foods like raw salads, fresh fruits, whole grains like oats, whole wheat flour, brown rice, whole pulses and beans like rajmah (
kidney beans), chick pea or chhole etc.
Use a non-stick pan for cooking as it will reduce oil consumption.
Use low-fat dairy products.
Limit your intake of butter, ghee, refined oil.
Reduce portion sizes and have small frequent meals.
Avoid snacking on energy dense foods like chips, cookies, packed foods. Instead eat sprouts, carrots, fruits or low fat yoghurt when you feel like snacking.
Roasted snacks are a better option than fried snacks like popcorn without butter/ puffed rice with roasted chana.
As you cannot exercise, you can increase activity by walking more often. take short breaks at work whenever possible and walk for a few minutes around the campus/ office premises. take stairs instead of lift, Limit TV viewing and spend some time outdoors on holidays.
I hope these tips will help you shed that extra weight gained during
pregnancy. If you have given birth to baby recently and your baby is less thana year old, you must breast-feed your baby as this will help in losing weight
post pregnancy. Breast-feeding is not only good for your baby's health but for your health too as you will lose weight by feeding your baby.
