How To Reduce Pain On The Top Of Foot After An Injury?

I twisted my ankle 2 weeks ago and the outside top of my foot still hurts. If I continually walk on it, it doesn t hurt. If I sit for a period of time and get up and walk, it hurts. No swelling. I do wear sandals everyday during the summer. Should I just wear tennis shoes until it is better?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, this is due to the fact that when ankle was twisted some muscle fibres are also torn and thus it takes time to heal and leading to longterm pain.

I would recommend you to take good muscle relaxant at time and apply some pain relieving gel on the foot and also warm water will help relieving the pain. Shoes with good support to the sole will help.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin
