Hi, My 8yr old son is running a temprature of 103 since last night. I have given him meftal at an interval of 6hrs and also combiflam in between but the temprature is not going below 102. I have also been doing sponging. Kindly suggest what I need to do next.

Thanks for consulting. I have carefully worked through your case, and I can realize your health worries. Being your physician, I assure you not to worry as I will take care all of your medical concerns.

do not give mefthal and combiflam together. just use combiflam. both contain the same paracitamol and will be toxic to the child liver.

it will take 3-5 days for fever to subside in case of a viral fever .
do not worry about that.

give him plenty of fluids.

combiflam for fever, cool his body through tepid sponging with normal tap water frequently his chest arm pits back and fore head ears and face. this will lower the temperature. this will be sufficient.

in-case fever is severe take him to pediatrician he may need admission and blood investigation.

Hope it helps. If you need further, detailed and quick assistance related to any health issues in future, feel free to 'ask me a question' directly from my profile.

Have a wonderful time ahead.
