Hello,This is with regard to my dad s health. He is 67 yrs now.He has been diabetic from past 10 years. He has maintained it well and has had no problem till date.He had a fall in July this year, which lead to a veg fracture in his back bone.During his bed rest time, his excersice & diet suffered and the diabeties count raised. It is 180 before food and 240 after food now. Local doc has put him on insulin 26 and 30.What can be done to stop the insulin intake? He is able to walk now and excersises regularly. Please help.
After start of regular daily activity start maintaing a "diabetic diary". Record Blood sugar level Before and after meal for 5 days in a tabulated form. It will give an idea about BSL levels. Then visit a diabetologist. He will gradually decrease the insulin dose and further observe the sugar levels. In this way if your father is able to maintain the sugar level ONLY then insulin can be stopped. Else he has to take life long.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. Wishing him good health.
