How To Manage Symptoms Of Hypoglycemia?

Hi Doctor, I have the problem of reactive hypoglycemia. I get sever headache (especially in eyes), fatigue, palpitation, blurring of vision after 2 hrs of the meal. I checked my glucose level. It was varying 90-95 g/dl in fasting, 120 g/dl after 30 min of meal containing simple as well as complex carbohydrate, protein and fat, 80-85 postprandial (2hrs after food) and 71-75 after 4 hrs of the meal. Condition worsens if I take some sweet dish with meal. I divided my food in small meal, stopped taking simple carbohydrates. It gives me symptomatic relief, but it is very difficult to maintain. After every 2.5-3.0 hrs I have to eat. At times because of busy schedule it is not possible. Kindly suggest if it is curable? or we need to depend on medication and diet balance for whole life like diabetics?

Greetings Sir/Madam. First of all its unfortunate that you have been suffering by the condition so called Reactive Hypoglycemia . After reading all your details i feel that your condition seems to be worsening. Since you have not provided your age, gender, etc., i am providing you some of basic measures to be followed in order to overcome such situation.
1. Most important is Never ever skip a breakfast which worsen the symptoms.
2. Restrict refined carbohydrates & avoid simple sugars(candy bar/ cola beverages etc.,) .
3. A Vegetable carbohydrates content keeps your blood levels more stable which can be further be combined with healthy fats like cheese sandwich on whole wheat bread, Cheese and whole grain crackers, Salad with beans or nuts added, Yogurt and fruit etc., slow down your digestion and ensure that you get a steady supply of energy for one to two hours after your snack.

Finally Curability, medications are all decided by Health condition , careful workup of patient , examination and also additional information from certain lab investigation ordered by a Physician/ Endocrinologist .
