How To Keep Heart Rate Low?

Ran a half marathon at 12 minutes a mile which, for a walker with asthma like me, was fast. My heart rate monitor said I spent all of that time in the HARD zone. Is that too much? I have a marathon in two months, but plan to keep my heart rate in a lower range.

Hi There

Asthma itself is a kind of stress er for the heart as it causes broncho constriction (airway narrowing) leading to labored breathing when u exert physically making your heart beat faster. Although i would like to recommend you to avoid doing that kind of stressful activities as it can cause an ACUTE EXACERBATION of ASTHMA which is a medical emergency and if not addressed shortly can cost a life.
What i would like you to do is go for daily brisk morning walk 45 mins a day for 5 days a week. That will be enough to keep your heart healthy and also do some YOGA/MEDITATION.

Good Luck
