How To Keep TSH Levels Under Control?

Hi, I aam having thyroid since 11 years. I am 24 years old. I used to take 50mcg at first and then it was increased to 75 mcg. From the past 11 years my TSH was within 0.02-4.20. Suddenly, my TSH has increased to 5.73. I am worried about it. However, I missed some of my dosages in 3-4 days. I want to reduce my TSH and I do not want to increase it. Please, can you explain what is the consecuences of dosages 50mcg, 75mcg and 100mcg?

Hello

Welcome to HCM

Its my pleasure to answer your query.

As per history provided you are suffering from hypothyroidism and you are levothyroxine 75 mcg.

if such cases presented to me then
I usually start therapy of hypothyroidism with lowest possible dose say 25 mcg and will advice my patient to follow up with thyroid profile test after 6 weeks. According to report I decide about dose of levothyroxine.

Secondly If you are taking some medications which has adverse effect on thyroid status then you should stop those medications.

I advice you to please consult near by physician for further evaluation, management and to rule out any secondary causes of hypothyroidism.

Thank you

Regards,
Dr.Om
