Hi,I am Neethu Vipin (Dietitian & Nutritionist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I m a celiac and was diagnosed only 4 years ago. I am on a gluten free diet now. I am 21 now and weigh 39 kg and 5 2 . I wish to increase my height. My father is 5 11 and my mother is 5 4 . In general, all my family is quite tall. Is is possible for me to increase my height through exercising and diet?
Unfortunately, once you have passed a certain age (usually about 18 to 20), your bones stop growing and you can't get any taller. Because of the celiac disease for so many years, you may not have had adequate nourishment for normal growth at the age when the bones do grow. This may be why you are not so tall now. But height comes from the bones growing longer, and this can't happen after you reach about 18 years of age. Even taking growth hormone will not change anything, but only cause other problems. Hope this answers your question.
