How To Improve Sperm Motility?

Hello Doctor Andrew I recently did a Semen Analysis test and in the report, I got observed values of motility as follows: Rapid progressive motility -- 25% Sluggish progressive motility -- 30% Non progressive motility -- 10% No motility -- 35% My wife and I have been trying for conception since last 2 years. Could this be the reason we have not been successful till now? What are the medications I need to take to improve motility?

HI,
I have read your query carefully & understand your concern.
Sperm count minimum 20 millions , having at least 20% of them moving fast & progressively;; is supposed to be minimum requirement for conception. From that point of view, you seem to have optimum motility.So though not having great possibility... it should be sufficient to impregnate.It need not be a solitary cause for non conception. Your wife also needs to be evaluated & treated.
Still, it's advisable to improve motility & have good chance of conception.
It can be by-
- avoiding smoking, having alcohol and tobacco
- Having good diet having essential amino acids .. red meat is best.Vitamin A, C , D & zink replacements help.
- Reduction of weight/ regular intense exercises/avoiding stress help in building testosterone levels.
- Some times medication after urologist's advise become essential.
