How To Get Rid The Acne Marks?

i tend to have acne prior to start of my periods since long. This month i missed my period due to several emotional turmoils and my face was covered with acne an now they are waning off leaving behind scars or dark marks. I want to get rid of these marks and also improve my skin quality . I am 28 as of now. Please help and suggest some topical ointment for marks except retin-a as it make my skin super dry and peel off even on slight application .

Hello,

I can understand your concern for the acne marks. It is really distressing for young person like you to get anything unusual le marks on the face.

The most important cause of acne marks is due to the activity of the melanocytes which causes pigmentation. Sun exposure is one of the most important cause of over activity of melanocytes and therefore causing more pigmentation.

In my patients I suggest them to apply a sunscreen daily for sun protection. For treatment proper I prefer to use either azelaic acid cream or kojic acid cream at night time. A very thin layer is to be applied so that it should not be visible to the naked eyes.

I suggest you to meet a dermatologist and get most appropriate therapy according to the grade of pigmentation of skin.
