How To Get Rid Of Salty Taste In Mouth?

I have achronic, constant salty taste in my mouth and cannot find a way to eliminate it. Havetriedmouthwashes, brushing teeth & tongue,Changing foods, medications, etc. There was one online article about an ENTat U PennHospital who had some success in treating the same symptoms, but I have not been able to reach her, so any thoughts you have for causes and cures would be greatly appreciated.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain salty taste in mouth can occur due to a number of reasons like Dehydration, Cold and Post nasal drip, Smoking, Dry mouth due to Autoimmune disease like Sjogren's Syndrome, salivary gland infections,Multiple sclerosis, Stroke etc..

In case if you instill eye drops in your eyes then they can also cause salty taste in mouth as the tears via tear ducts enters nasal passage which ultimately enters mouth leading to a very salty taste..

In case if you are confusing salty taste with metallic taste and if you have some sort of metallic taste also it can be due to some medication which you are taking..

These can be some cause..

I would suggest you to consult an oral pathologist and get evaluated and the treatment can be planned only after clinical examination and laboratory investigations if needed..
You can maintain a good hydration by drinking plenty of water as dehydration can be a common cause of salty taste in mouth..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
